Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

This was our final meal of a vacation full of wonderful meals and Borago kept the string going. We got the Calamari appetizer and it was cooked perfectly vs. the overcooked rubber you often get at other places. Also, there was a yummy lemon aioli drizzled on it and good marinara on the side. This creamy/acidic combo was a winner! My wife had spaghetti and marinara and I had Veal Francese. We were both happy with my only minor complaint being that there could have been perhaps one more medallion of veal on the plate. This was our first visit and Borago will be on the list for future Seaside trips.

Was a perfect meal. 4 of us in our party. 4 different meals and all good to the max. I had the sausage penne. It was spicy goodness. Prices were fair but typical for Italian. Would/will go back.

The food here was better than most places on 30a, but the service was terrible. The experience was nowhere close to being worth the $40 per person cost for 2 adults, 1 child, and 1 baby. We arrived at 7:30pm and were seated immediately. The server took our drink order and returned quickly with our beverages. He took our meal order and made some good recommendations. That's where the good experience ended. 20 minutes later, I had finished my beer, but we hadn't seen our server once in that time. After waiting 10 more minutes, I stopped the server working the neighboring section and asked her to place my drink order. Our server delivered my beer, making no mention of being MIA for half an hour. He also made no mention of our exceptionally-delayed appetizers. After another 15 minutes, he brought my wife & kids apps, but not mine. 5 minutes later our main courses showed up, followed promptly by my appetizer. The server offered no explanation for the poor timing of courses. By the time we finished our apps, our main courses were cold. We sat there for 10 more minutes with appetizer plates and empty glasses scattered across the table with our stale main courses wedged on the corner. We couldn't move on to our main courses, even if we had wanted to, because this place apparently doesn't believe in bussing tables. This server finally meandered back to his section. We asked to have our food boxed up and wanted the check. The server had the nerve to try to sell us dessert (we said no). When the check came, there was no attempt to apologize for the horrid service experience. After over 90 minutes, we were finally getting out of this terrible place where food service is a forgotten art. To sum it up, food was good but service really blew it. I would only recommend this place for takeout, but you should just drive a few more miles and go to Cafe 30a.

Very friendly staff and owner. Accommodating standard italian menu, until the salad and pasta was delivered. The lemon-ish dressing on the salad was perfectly balanced. My angel hair pasta was cooked expertly al denete then tossed with garlic, aromatic EVOO and shiitake mushrooms. Just like Italy it was pasta centric (not topping overloaded) and was outstanding. Wife's cheese tortellini, and daughter's pan seared shrimp were memorable. Wait staff was helpful and got it all right! (even our crazy extras and restrictions). Large portions too.

Great experience last night at Borago! We happened upon this gem after not being willing to brave the hour and a half wait at a nearby restaurant. We arrived during peak time on Saturday and although the restaurant was full, were offered a seat on the outside patio. The sun had gone down, so it was a little warm, but still pleasant. The hostess was friendly and walked us out to our table. Our waiter Tom was phenomenal. He was attentive, courteous and made sure we were comfortable. Throughout the evening, he checked on us regularly and kept our drinks full. At the end of the night he took extra care to ensure my daughter was able to take home the picture she drew on the table cover. Now, about the yummy food - we were served complimentary house focaccia bread with amazing oil and balsamic vinegar to start. For my entree I had linguini with basil, tomato sauce, Parmesan and a veal meatball. My husband had angel hair with red chilies, olive oil and garlic and Italian sausage. Both dishes were prepared perfectly and packed with flavor. The veal meatball was the only component of my meal that needed a little improvement. It wasn't as tender as I would have preferred, but not bad. My daughter enjoyed her grilled chicken and whipped potatoes as well. I snuck a bite and thought the potatoes were divine. Fabulous Italian food and nice change of scenery from all of the beach seafood restaurants. Very pleased with our experience. Keep up the good work.

Great meal! We started with the mixed green salads and we're happy to find they use local ingredients which makes for a very fresh salad. Then we got our entrees which everyone finished. I had the pan seared shrimp in angel hair pasta which was so good and flavorful. Their sauce was amazing! We saw a few tables get the calamari which looked delicious. Maybe we will get that next time we visit.

We had dinner at Boragos tonight and we were all happy with our entrées and appetizers. The service was quick and the drinks were cold and tasty. The appetizer special was quite good a deep-fried oyster coated in Parmesan cheese. The mushroom ravioli was delicious and the chicken fettuccine was even better. Try a dirty martini you won't be dissatisfied. The focaccia bread served with grated Parmesan cheese soaked in balsamic vinaigrette was delicious. Urban Cowgill March 2015

Those who frequent Borago usually dine in the bar, thus the bar is always crowded even if the restaurant is sparsely populated. The bar provides a friendly and fun experience for couples or those dining alone. The food at Borago is well prepared but a little overpriced. My wife and I usually each have a salad and an appetizer and share a desert. Add 2 drinks each and the bill is over $100. The salad is no anything special but the appetizer selection is good. My wife normally has some form of oysters and I have calamari although I would recommend any of the appetizers. The one thing I would always recommend is the tiramisu; I think Borago has the best I have found. We dine out for entertainment and we are never disappointed at the bar in Borago!

Last night of vacation and it's a Friday. Everywhere from Destin to Seaside is packed with folks just like us searching for a great meal after having spent all day out in the sun. After driving and calling around, Borago lets us know they can seat the 10 of us in 5 minutes. Done. We'll be there! The place is quaint and very inviting. We were seated right away at what appeared to be the only available tables. The waitress was lovely, explaining the dishes thoroughly and putting up with us and our constant loud banter. The Hubs and I split an appetizer of the tomato bisque and the salmon entree. The Bisque was perfect, and was a great way to start out the meal. The salmon, my goodness the salmon, was divine. The chef separated the dish onto two plates for us with equal portions and it was more than enough (so smart I was to suggest splitting the meal). The salmon was perfectly cooked and crisp on the outside. It was accompanied by spears of asparagus and grits all on a layer of peach barbecue sauce. Amazing. I am super picky about my grits and Borago cooked theirs to perfection. No complaints from this snobby Southern girl! The rest of the group raved about their dishes as well. Wonderful food and we ended up shutting the place down. Is it true Italian food? Not really but go here for a great meal and nice glass of wine.

Borago is just so wonderful, starting with the focaccia and excellent dipping oil mix, cruising through the many choices of appetizers: calamari is wonderful, several other great choices. Salads are perfect, especially the simple arugula, their bolognese with tortellini is well-crafted and luscious. Both piccatas are reliably delicious, and the wine list hasn't disappointed yet. Now I made myself hungry! Try it-reservations a must!

Wow. Everything was fantastic! Calamari and meatball appetizers. Shrimp, scallops, and crab-meat fricassee and the chicken linguine entrees. Desserts were chocolate creme brûlée and a chocolate carrot cake, both were unique and wonderful.

Favorite restaurant on 30a. We make sure we visit at least once each trip and havent been disappointed yet. We had a group of 8 and had a great meal with friends. Apps were Calamari and Meatballs and both were excellent The Arugula Salad was solid but a bit ordinary The entrees around the table were Chicken Picatta, a Bolognese dish,a vegetable lasagna and a salmon dish. Very little talking during dinner as all were busy enjoying their meal. We skipped dessert as we were full and it was getting late Overall.... A great meal in a casual setting Will go again soon

Borago has really really good food, drinks and service. The scallop app is delicious! Bolognese is my husbands fav pasta dish. Angel hair with shrimp Is tasty too. Veal piccata was great too. Prosecco was perfect.

Went here in December of 2010 and had a fabulous experience. Excellent, unique, fresh Italian dishes. I had something with olives, artichokes, and buffalo mozzarella. Phenomenal. Everything our party ordered was excellent. I highly recommend this easy-to-miss restaurant in the Grayton/Seaside area.

Horrible and rude service. Have never experienced being treated that rudely. Took twenty minutes to get a drink and over an hour for a salad. Will never go back there.

Stumbled upon this place two weeks ago while desperately trying to beat the humidity. As an aside, tent camping in the Panhandle Memorial Day week? NEVER AGAIN! Anyway, the drinks are good and strong. Ordered a second Jack and Ginger out of pure greed and was really silly afterward. They start you off with a basket of foccacia with olive oil and seasoning. Very delicious and flavorful. We ordered the calamari appetizer and can honestly say it was the best any of us had ever had. It is dipped in cornmeal and lightly fried and drizzled with some sort of light cheese sauce. Not a single piece was chewy or rubbery! The salads were also great and I appreciated the Fontina cheese on my mixed green salad. Entrees we liked were the eggplant lasagna and the pork tenderloin. Waiter was eccentric and very entertaining. Will absolutely go back again.

Grilled filet and chicken piccata were awesome. Kids were busy drawing on the provided construction paper tablecloth. Specialty drinks were strong to quite strong, especially the Grayton Blvd, wow. will return... Thks

Awful service. Stopped in because the Red Bar nearby had a long wait. The fact that this spot had so much availability should have been a warning. Despite not being full, the service was very slow. After sitting down, we waited for nearly fifteen minutes before finally asking that our server come help us. Our drinks came slowly as did the bread (which was cold and stale tasting), after nearly an hour our appetizer arrived. We asked about the other food we had ordered as we were rather hungry and, rather than checking on it, we were told (rather rudely) that everyone was waiting. Wish I had just waited it out a Red Bar; at least I would have gotten a drink faster and enjoyed some music.

Excellent service - wonderful food, freshly prepared and in an open kitchen which always is a good sign of confidence and quality! I highly recommend!

Great food! Everyone at our table enjoyed their dinner. They do charge for more than one basket of bread, I understand but on the other hand find it hard to believe.

what a great experience! we made reservations and were seated right away. started with the bread with the oils. i ordered the shrimp and grits that were to die for. with a meal this good we had to try the tramisu. it was delish! service was outstanding. will go back.

This place serves new Italian/American cuisine. We decided to have dinner here. This is never really that big a deal for me, but the interior of the restaurant was ridiculous and as ugly as their website. Orange, fake stone wallpaper and purple neon lighting?! Wow. The dining room felt really tacky. On the plus side, the open kitchen was cool and the bar looked pretty nice. The bread basket was a nice touch, but the bread wasn't particularly great. I ordered the filet with boursin. The flavor was ok, but it was over-cooked. It made me want the steak I had earlier in the week at Café Tango. The sides it came with were not memorable. I also sampled the chicken linguini (I think) and I remember it being pretty decent, but rich. The service was pretty decent over the course of our meal. Also, the prices weren't too bad, but I expected the food to be slightly better for the cost. 2.5

we ate at 5:30 pm because of this being the only time available in the last minute during memorial day weekend. we had 2 kids under 4 in the party which suit us fine. the food was good, service was excellent and the price was reasonable but by no means cheap. my negative was the children menu. it was $13 for plate of pasta even though it was with scallops. It was surprisingly spicy for a child plate. both of the 4 year old and the 11/2 years old could not eat it. and they both ate bread and some adult food for dinner. I should have asked for money back.

Ended up here after Fire couldn't fit us in on a Friday night. We were seated outside under a covered area. It was raining so that worked out great. We started with the special of the day. A caprese salad that was pretty good. The fish dish was dry but ok just not great. The service was not that great. Hopefully, it was just a off night on food and service. The place was packed so you would think they normally do a better job.

We visit the Seaside/Grayton Beach area every year and stay about 10 days... each time we always end up eating at Borago twice! They have wonderful food and service. I recommend saving room for the tiramisu, it is fabulous!

Had a really nice dinner at Borago's. Service was excellent, desserts were incredible. Would of given it five stars except the Grouper was a little fishy. Great ambiance. Highly recommended.

This is an incredible place! Very small, charming, and great Italian food! My family makes sure to make it here every trip down to the beach. Reservations are suggested since it is such a small place- don't miss this one!

Had dinner/dessert/drinks here with a party of five. Food was EXCELLENT. We had calamari and mushroom raviolis for starters. The raviolis were tasty, sauce was just the right consistence, and the filling was flavorful. Other members at the table enjoyed the fried calamari and ate every last bite. For dinner, our picky 12 year old son enjoyed the linguini with meatballs (and he rarely eats anything) which impressed us. Other table members had the Filet Mignon, Penne with spicy Italian Sausage, and I had the Grouper. We all shared plates to try the different dishes and I did not hear one complaint. The grouper was perfectly cook with a nice flavor profile that went well with the Rose I ordered. My husband loved his penne with sausage. The two who had the Filet also found it to be cooked perfectly as requested with a nice bleu cheese which they enjoyed. For dessert we had Apple Crostini, Tiramisu, and a flight of Cellos. The apple Crostini was a plate of warm goodness, that as nice and light. Tiramisu was fresh and delicious. The flight of Cellos arrived as five different fruit infused shots of sweet nectar that was a perfect end to the night. My favorite was the lemon cello, but my daughter loved the strawberry cello. We will definitely return on our next visit to try other menu items and enjoy the cozy ambiance of this restaurant.

We had a great dining experience here! The drinks were perfect. I really appreciate fresh juices and not just syrups! The food was cooked to perfection. My filet was so good. I love the risotto. Kim was the best server. Very seasoned and just perfect. Lee will definitely recommend and be back!
(5)Laura N.
Excellent all around. Meatball appetizer, cornmeal dusted Calamari, Bolognese, Veal Piccata, Grouper, Salmon, Apple tart AND Cello sampler!
(5)Stephanie F.
We've had dinner twice here. Both times the service and food were excellent. Authentic Italian at the beach!!!

Have a great meal there last night. Grouper on angel hair with artichokes olives and green beans. It was prepared with fresh ingredients. Quite delicious. And the service was excellent. I highly recommend you try this restaurant.
